Privacy Policy

Mochi Reader ("Mochi", the "app") is developed by Nguyen Xuan Thong, an independent developer in Vietnam. This policy explains what data is processed when you use the app, where it is processed, and how you control it. Our principle: the app is designed not to know what you read.

1. Data processed on your device

Comic images you view are loaded by the in-app browser, recognized with Apple Vision and translated with Apple Translation entirely on your iPhone. Original images, translated images, browsing history, your series notebook and website cookies are stored only on the device. They are not sent to our servers.

You can clear the cache, history and notebook anytime in the app’s Settings. Deleting the app removes all of this data.

2. Feedback and bug reports (only when you send them)

When you send feedback in the app we receive what you write, your contact details (if you enter them), up to 4 images you attach, and technical details to track down the problem (app version, iOS version, device model, language, translation languages, last error). If you open feedback from the page you are reading, a screenshot and the link of that page are attached for you; you can remove them before sending.

Feedback is used only to answer you and fix problems. It is stored in Firebase (Firestore and Cloud Storage, Singapore) and deleted together with your account.

3. Data stored on our servers

To run the new-account free trial, apply any daily page limit and record your Pro plan, the app creates an anonymous account (a random identifier) through Firebase Authentication on first launch. Linked to that identifier we store: pages translated per day (sample pages counted separately), which onboarding and purchase screens you reached, app version, interface and target language, plan status (free, Pro, trial, lifetime), and purchase events reported by Apple (transaction id, product, date, storefront country, price). We do not store comic titles, website links, images or any translated text, except what you send us yourself as feedback (section 2).

If you choose Sign in with Apple to keep your plan across devices, we additionally store your Apple user identifier and, if you allow it, your email address (possibly a private relay address provided by Apple). Email is used only to support you, never for advertising.

Data is stored in Google Cloud (Firebase), region asia-southeast1 (Singapore), which means it is transferred outside Vietnam. Google processes it on our behalf under the Google Cloud data processing terms. Firebase App Check verifies that requests come from the official app.

4. Payments

All purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. We never receive or store your card or payment account details. Apple notifies us about transaction status (purchase, renewal, expiry, refund) so the app can unlock the right benefits.

5. Data we do not collect

We use no advertising SDKs, do not track you across other apps and websites, and do not collect location, contacts, photo library content (other than images you choose to attach to feedback) or the advertising identifier (IDFA).

6. Retention and deletion

Daily usage data is kept for 24 months and then aggregated into anonymous statistics. Transaction records are kept for the periods required by accounting and tax law.

You can delete your account and all data linked to it inside the app at Settings → Account → Delete account, or by emailing support@mochireader.com with your support code (shown in Settings → Account). Requests are completed within 30 days. Purchased Pro plans remain restorable through your Apple ID.

7. Your rights

Under Vietnam’s Personal Data Protection Law and similar laws where you live, you may ask to know, access, correct or delete your data, restrict or object to its processing, withdraw your consent, and lodge a complaint with the competent authority. Email support@mochireader.com with your support code; we reply within the time the law requires.

When you tap start on the welcome screen, you confirm that you have read this policy and agree to the processing described above for the stated purposes. You can withdraw that consent at any time by deleting your account.

8. Users outside Vietnam

EU, UK and Switzerland (GDPR): we process your data to perform our contract with you (free trial, Pro plan, restoring purchases), for our legitimate interest in keeping the service secure and preventing abuse (App Check, feedback rate limits), and with your consent when you send feedback. Transfers outside your region are covered by the Standard Contractual Clauses in Google’s data processing terms. You may complain to the data protection authority where you live.

Japan (APPI): data is stored in Singapore, which has its own Personal Data Protection Act; Google, as our processor, applies security measures equivalent to those required under Japanese law.

California and other US states: we do not sell your personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. You may ask to know, delete or correct your data, and you will not be treated differently for doing so.

Everywhere else: you have the rights in section 7 plus any rights the law where you live gives you. Contact support@mochireader.com.

9. Children

The app is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their data. The content you read is provided by third-party websites outside our control.

10. Changes

When this policy changes materially we will notify you in the app and update the effective date at the top of this page.
